Tottenham final Premier League position predicted after Chelsea loss
Tottenham suffered a 16th Premier League defeat in 30 games in midweek as Chelsea eventually took all three points from Stamford Bridge.
The spicy all-London affair on Thursday (3 April) ended with the sides separated by just Enzo Fernandez’s second-half header, piling even more pressure on Ange Postecoglou.
In truth, nothing has really changed for Spurs, who seek the Europa League as their sole means from which to save their horror show season and their manager’s future.

Tottenham final position predicted by Opta
Opta (4 April) have provided their updated predicted final Premier League table following the result in South-West London on Thursday night.
Using their in-depth statistical algorithm, Opta expect Tottenham to remain in their current position of 14th until the end of the season, gathering a total of 45 points – a total they have surpassed every season since 2003-04.
Spurs will be even more frustrated with developments at Stamford Bridge given Pape Sarr’s tremendous equalising goal was disallowed, the brief ecstasy in which Postecoglou seemed caught up with the travelling fans.
Opta predict Tottenham to have just a 0.1 per cent chance of an unthinkable relegation, of which some of this season’s earlier big wins have prevented the threat as they lie 14 points clear of the drop zone.
The Lilywhites are now, however, a whole 10 points adrift of even the top half of the table, in a season to forget which could easily become a memorable one on the flick of a switch.

Postecoglou and fans all-in on Europa League
The Europa League is Spurs’ sanctuary this season. A disastrous campaign could be turned into a magical one by overcoming three separate ties on the continent.
Eintracht Frankfurt are next up for Postecoglou‘s side, before which they will try and gather momentum against Premier League whipping boys Southampton – whose only target now is to avoid exceeding Derby County’s record-lowest points total, their next draw bringing them level.
Tottenham Hotspur – lowest PL points totals | Points |
1997-98 | 44 |
1993-94 | 45 |
2003-04 | 45 |
1996-97 | 46 |
2007-08 | 46 |
It is quite frankly incredible for a team like Spurs to have lost over half of their Premier League matches at this stage of the season, and the domestic cups never amounted to anything despite the hope which arose particularly from the Carabao Cup.
Frankfurt are not wet behind the ears in Europe by any stretch, lifting the Europa League trophy in 2022, and will approach the quarter-final tie starting on Thursday (10 April) knowing what’s at stake for their English opponents.
