Tottenham fans called ‘Losers’ in ridiculous new Europa League rant

Ben Foster has asked a question of Tottenham supporters after such a negative season in North London.

There has been little room for positivity in the Premier League for the Lilywhites after such a dreadful run of form under Ange Postecoglou.

It is fair to say that injury worries have had a telling impact on results and impacted the success that has been possible for Spurs on the domestic front.

Even with that being the case, Foster has questioned what some fans would like to see from their side moving into the final weeks of the campaign.

Tottenham mentality questioned ahead of Europa League final

As it stands, all that matters for the rest of the campaign is the result in Bilbao against Manchester United in the final of the Europa League.

This will see the winner end a dreadful season compared to their usual standards and earn a spot in the Champions League for next campaign.

If it is Spurs who lift the trophy, it will end a 17-year wait and spark wild celebrations for supporters in N17.

With that being said, this will still represent a far cry from the performances of the Lilywhites from the days of Mauricio Pochettino at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

With that in mind, Foster has asked Spurs fans what sort of season they would prefer to see on the Football Fill-In (13 May).

He said: “Would you rather have this season, where you win the Europa League and get Champions League football, this horrific season, or one of the unreal seasons under Pochettino, where you get to the Champions League final and you’re top three or four in the Premier League.

“What season would you rather have? Most Tottenham fans would rather have this season where they win the Europa League. They want a trophy.”

Former Wrexham defender Ben Tozer was left fuming by this as he added: “I think that sums up Tottenham and their mentality.

“It’s so ‘Spursy’ it’s ridiculous. That’s winding me up, that’s just a loser’s mentality.”

Tottenham mentality could cause problem v Man United

There is going to be such a huge amount of pressure on the squad in N17 as they prepare to travel to Spain for a first final since 2021.

Supporters are going to be expecting a trophy after such a poor season, and that could prove to be too much for the players to deal with on Hotspur Way.

The fixture congestion and injury worries have already proven to be problematic, so add the expectation of success to this, and it could prove to be an issue.

With that being said, Postecoglou can’t afford to lose in the Europa League final and add fuel to the fire that is the “Spursy” label.

As a result, the Australian needs to hope for top performances from the likes of Dominic Solanke, Cristian Romero and the rest of his side.
