Tottenham fans in disbelief at official Postecoglou announcement – ‘Is this a joke?’
Tottenham supporters have been left bewildered by official news regarding manager Ange Postecoglou.
Spurs have endured a turbulent season and sit just 13th in the Premier League table, which is far lower than their supporters’ expectations.
But last month, Tottenham won three of their four top-flight fixtures, with consecutive victories arriving against Brentford, Manchester United and Ipswich, prior to their defeat against Manchester City on 26 February.
That form was enough to see Spurs boss Postecoglou nominated for the Premier League’s Manager of the Month award alongside Liverpool manager Arne Slot, Everton’s David Moyes, Fulham boss Marco Silva and Crystal Palace manager David Glasner.
Spurs supporters react to Postecoglou Manager of the Month nomination
The Tottenham faithful have been left surprised by the news that Postecoglou has been nominated for the prestigious award, alongside the likes of Liverpool’s Slot, who has led his side to a 13-point lead at the top of the Premier League.
One Spurs fan questioned why the former Celtic boss had been nominated for the award and commented on X: “For being 13th” while another simply asked: “Seriously?”

Tottenham’s Premier League form overshadowed by recent cup exits
Tottenham boss Postecoglou has been nominated for the Premier League Manager of the Month award due to the fact that his side have won three of their last four top-flight outings.
But Spurs supporters will largely be surprised to see him handed such an accolade as their side sit in a less than satisfactory position in the Premier League table.
Furthermore, February also witnessed Tottenham exit both the FA Cup and the League Cup, which is less than ideal for a club who have not clinches any silverware since 2008.
This season’s League Cup was formerly Postecoglou’s side’s best opportunity to win a trophy, after they defeated Liverpool 1-0 in the first leg of their semi-final back in January.
However, in the second leg, Spurs were simply humiliated as they crumbled to a 4-0 defeat at Anfield with Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah, Dominik Szoboszlai and Virgil van Dijk all getting themselves on the scoresheet.
Just three days after that, Tottenham then lost 2-1 in the FA Cup to Aston Villa, so supporters of Postecoglou’s side will not view February in a positive light.
