Tottenham dealt yet another new injury blow, scan results to come – insider

Yves Bissouma is awaiting futher scan results after the Tottenham Hotspur star suffered a “slight” hamstring strain, according to Paul O Keefe.

The journalist posted on X (21 January) to report that having been absent since the Lilywhites’ 2-1 defeat to Arsenal last Wednesday, Bissouma now faces a further spell on the sidelines with his hamstring issue.

The Mali international could be out for the next two to three weeks – meaning he’d miss up to six matches – but Spurs are hopeful that his hamstring strain isn’t as major as first feared.

O Keefe said: “Yves Bissouma has a slight hamstring strain. Awaiting more scan results.

“They don’t think it’s major – or at least hope. Maybe 2-3 weeks”, he later added.

Tottenham injury crisis refusing to let up for Ange Postecoglou

It’s almost becoming difficult to fathom how Spurs will be able to even fulfil their fixture list over the coming weeks, given just how many players remain on the sidelines with short and long-term injuries.

Bissouma, when fit and on form, walks into the Lilywhites’ midfield even when the Australian has a full squad at his disposal, but those days seem light years away based on this season’s fortunes.

Bissouma and fellow midfielder Pape Sarr were both hooked at half-time of Spurs’ North London Derby defeat, with 18-year-old Lucas Bergvall staying on for the full 90 in a potential changing of the guard.

Postecoglou is down to the barebones in several positions across his squad, namely in central defence, but midfield injuries have somewhat been covered by the likes of Bergvall so far this term.

Adding reinforcements in defence has to and will remain the priority for Postecoglou before 3 February, but if Bissouma’s injury is longer-term, Spurs may have to dip into the midfield market too.
