Tottenham find ‘obvious’ new manager after Ange Postecoglou sack updates
Tottenham may already be preparing for life without Ange Postecoglou next season amid their struggles in the Premier League.
Having won just 10 of their 29 top-flight outings so far, Spurs sit 14th in the Premier League table and have little hope of even landing a top-half finish.
Consequently, Postecoglou is under growing pressure and could face the sack ahead of next term.
Perhaps the only way the Australian can save his job is by leading Spurs to an unlikely trophy triumph in the Europa League, where they face Frankfurt in the quarter-finals.

Andoni Iraola is ‘obvious’ Postecoglou replacement at Tottenham
Amid the growing scrutiny on Postecoglou, Spurs have already identified Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola and Fulham’s Marco Silva as possible replacements.

Speaking on the latest episode of the Athletic FC podcast [31 March], Jack Pitt-Brooke outlined Iraola as an ideal candidate to become the next Tottenham boss, saying: “He did really well in Spain at Rayo Vallecano and then he’s come over to Bournemouth and done well, so from a Tottenham point of view, if you’re thinking who reminds us most of Mauricio Pochettino in 2014, then Iraola is the obvious choice.”
However, Phil Hay questioned whether the Spaniard would make the switch from the South Coast to North London: “I reckon the consideration for him less about leaving Bournemouth and more about where he’s going, the credibility of the club in question and the creditability of the project because he strikes me 100 percent as a project manager.”
Iraola could be a great manager for Tottenham
Hay’s concerns regarding whether Iraola would choose to join Spurs could well prove to be a stumbling block for chairman Daniel Levy should he wish to appoint the 42-year-old.
Right now, the Bournemouth manager’s stock is incredibly high, courtesy of the fantastic job he is doing in Dorset, and plenty of high-profile opportunities could come his way.
However, if he is willing to join Spurs, he could prove to be a better boss than Postecoglou, whose season has been far from a success.
After joining Bournemouth in the summer of 2023, the Spaniard has steered his side to the top half of the Premier League, pushing for European football.
Furthermore, Iraola’s men went toe-to-toe with Manchester City in Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final, and came close to booking their spot in the last four.
If Iraola joins Tottenham, he would have the opportunity to manage high-quality players such as Dejan Kulusevski and could be able to steer Spurs back to the upper echelons of the Premier League table.
