Tottenham advance Micky Van de Ven transfer to final stages – Fabrizio Romano

Tottenham are advancing their deal to sign Wolfsburg defender Micky Van de Ven to the final stages, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The transfer specialist has reported on Twitter on 2 August that Spurs are close to an overall agreement to bring the Dutch enforcer to North London this summer.

Personal terms are already said to be 100 per cent agreed with talks underway to iron out any final details of the transfer ahead of the Premier League season.

He wrote on his personal Twitter account: “Tottenham are close to reaching an agreement with Wolfsburg for Micky Van de Ven. Deal advancing to final stages now.

“There are still details to sort but talks underway – agreement could be done soon. Personal terms, 100% agreed.”

Brilliant.

Ange Postecoglou will be delighted to see his defence close in on reinforcement as he gets ready for his first season in the Premier League.

Van de Ven has certainly caught the eye as one of the brightest prospects in Europe, with his lightning speed something that tops the bill.

Despite playing at the heart of the defence, it is the ball carrying of the 22-year-old which makes him so exciting to watch, being in the 93rd percentile of successful take-ons for defenders over the past year [FBRef].

Worryingly though, he is only in the fourth percentile for aerial battles won, winning only 1.06 per game, something which could be a real concern in the rough and tumble of the Premier League.

Postecoglou will be hoping that his side can dominate the ball more effectively with Van de Ven in the side, something which could see him thrive moving forward as this deal finally advances towards completion.
