Tim Sherwood names ‘prolific’ striker who’ll score for fun if Tottenham sign him

Tim Sherwood has named a “prolific” striker who would score for fun if Tottenham sign him in the coming transfer windows.

The North London outfit recently signed Mathys Tel on loan from Bayern Munich, and the youngster made his debut on Thursday (6 February), as Liverpool won 4-0 in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final at Anfield.

Spurs have relied on Dominic Solanke for most of the season after his big-money move from Bournemouth in the summer, but the English striker is out injured at the moment.

Richarlison is also at Ange Postecoglou’s disposal, but the Brazilian forward has had his fair share of fitness issues.

Harry Kane to score consistently at Tottenham under Ange Postecoglou

Tim Sherwood believes Harry Kane would score a lot of goals if he were to return to the N17.

The ex-midfielder believes the 31-year-old will continue to be prolific under Postecoglou as he plays an attacking brand of football.

Spurs have been looking for the English striker’s replacement ever since his move to the Bundesliga outfit in the summer of 2023.

Speaking on Sky Sports (8 February), Sherwood said: “Wherever [Kane] comes back to, he comes back to where he thinks he can win something in the English league. And beat [Shearer’s] record, which means scoring a lot of goals.

“Which he would do at Tottenham under Postecoglou, to be fair. They play all-out attack. Kane will score a lot of goals. Spurs score a lot, but they concede. So he will want to win trophies.

“Looks like he’s going to win a domestic league at Bayern. They won 3-0 last night. He scored another brace. He’s prolific. He won’t let up. He’ll keep going.”

Harry Kane to move back to North London

It’s a shame that Kane was unable to spend more time at the North London outfit and left just after Postecoglou’s arrival.

The England international, along with Son Heung-min, formed one of the deadliest partnerships in the Premier League.

While it would be brilliant if the Lilywhites were able to re-sign the 31-year-old, it feels unlikely at the moment, considering the position they are in.

Spurs have struggled up front in the current campaign, with Son looking like a shadow of his former self.

Goalscoring has been a huge issue for the North Londoners, and injuries in the backline have added to the concerns.

As things stand, the Lilywhites sit 14th in the Premier League, winning just one of their last 10 matches.

Kane’s potential arrival would arguably be a big boost for Postecoglou, but for now, it remains to be seen whether the Australian manager can survive the sack.
