Thomas Frank seen watching ‘unpleasant’ footage at Tottenham HQ as pressure grows

Joe Lewis and Tottenham’s ENIC investment group owners are facing a huge Thomas Frank decision.

After Tottenham were knocked out of the FA Cup by Aston Villa on 10 January, Frank was already under huge pressure heading into the London derby clash with West Ham on Saturday.

Losing at home to the Hammers was an unthinkable possibility, but sure enough, a 93rd-minute Callum Wilson goal saw West Ham beat Tottenham 2-1, marking a new low in Frank‘s tenure.

Frank is now on the verge of being sacked as Tottenham manager, with the team now winless in their last five in all competitions, and sitting 14th in the Premier League ahead of Monday night’s game between Brighton and Bournemouth.

Thomas Frank spotted ‘reliving’ West Ham nightmare

Frank has shown himself to be an upbeat and ever-optimistic coach and person from his time in charge of Brentford, but even he must be struggling to force a smile at this stage.

The proverbial barbarians are at his and Tottenham’s gate, and they don’t appear to be going away anytime soon.

However, until he’s told otherwise, Frank must and will crack on with the job at hand, with the next one being a big Champions League test when they welcome Borussia Dortmund to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday night.

Speaking on Sky Sports News outside of Spurs’ training ground on Monday lunchtime, reporter Gary Cotterill said he had caught a glimpse of Frank turning up for training, and he was allegedly spotted doing something very interesting.

“He’s here at the training ground. He arrived five hours ago when it was still dark at 7am,” Cotterill said.

“I could see his silhouette in the back of a people carrier. Shining brightly was his laptop, which was showing a football match that he seemed to be studying.

I swear it was the West Ham, though I can’t be totally sure. He was reliving that unpleasant memory.”

History books could point towards job-saving Dortmund result

With Frank set to take Tottenham’s Champions League game against Borussia Dortmund, he will know that a win against the German giants could be a watershed one in his Spurs career.

In front of a frustrated home crowd, a win would not only potentially propel them into a top eight place, but it could also act as a much-needed turning point towards rescuing his position.

And, if Frank checks the history books, then he will be filled with confidence that his Spurs side can claim victory over Niko Kovac’s side on Tuesday night.

That’s because Tottenham have won each of their last four games against Dortmund in the Champions League, dating back to September 2017.

Their most recent win came in March 2019, when a Harry Kane goal made sure of a 4-0 aggregate win in the last 16.
