Stelling reacts to ‘worrying’ Levy and Tottenham claim he’s told live on talkSPORT

Tottenham fans are starting to lose patience with everyone associated with the club after their dismal season.

It has been a campaign to forget for everyone involved at Spurs, with Ange Postecoglou struggling to get the best out of his team, despite their attacking style of play.

Spurs are currently 14th in the Premier League table after a long season of issues when it comes to consistency in performances and results.

Tottenham have had to deal with a large number of injury issues throughout the season, but fans have started to run out of patience with any potential excuses.

Tottenham fans have provided a ‘worrying’ update

During a discussion about the Lilywhites live on talkSPORT (1 April), a fan called in and made it clear he thinks if Daniel Levy is still involved moving forward, then things will get worse before they get better, which Jeff Stelling admitted was “worrying”.

Levy recently made it clear he will not be spending beyond Tottenham’s means this summer as he intends on keeping the club profitable and without any debt.

It has been an issue that supporters have had with Levy throughout his time at the club, as they believe that their managers are never backed financially in a way where they can genuinely compete with other top Premier League sides.

Tottenham fans recently held a protest about Levy as they made their feelings clear, with their desire being for him to step down.

Stelling said: “Tottenham fans have all got the same complaint, haven’t they? Daniel Levy will say, though, ‘this is a business run club, and we need to run it as a business.’

“But isn’t football a very different business to every other business out there?”

The Europa League could salvage Tottenham’s season

There have been very few positives for Tottenham fans to grasp onto throughout this season, but the Europa League has the potential to change that.

Spurs remain in the competition and have reached the quarter-finals, where they will play Eintracht Frankfurt, giving them a genuine opportunity to win some silverware this season.

That would not only give the fans something to cheer about, but it’s also going to have a significant role on Postecoglou’s future.

Levy set him the goal of qualifying for European football next season, and with this now being his only method of achieving that, the Spurs boss could be set to lose his job if he’s unable to make that happen.
