Stelling hits out at ‘outrageous’ Postecoglou comment, Agbonlahor completely agrees
Jeff Stelling was less than impressed with a remark made towards Ange Postecoglou before the Europa League final.
Tottenham secured their first major trophy in 17 years on Wednesday night, with a 1-0 win over Man United in the Europa League final.
After what has been a dreadful campaign in the Premier League, success via Europe was a must for Spurs, and Postecoglou will be more than pleased to be the man to have delivered it.
The Australian has come in for a lot of criticism throughout his tenure in North London, and Stelling was keen to emphasise the respect he has for the Spurs boss after a recent comment.

Postecoglou deserves credit for Tottenham success
While Postecoglou will rightfully shoulder most of the blame for what has been a dreadful domestic campaign, he should be praised for the success found in the Europa League.
Everyone knew just how important it was for Tottenham to win the competition, and Postecoglou never once shied away from the challenge.
However, because of the magnitude of the night in Bilbao, some severe accusations were made towards the Spurs boss, and Stelling wasn’t happy at them.
Europa League final | Goals | Shots | xG | Possession |
Tottenham | 1 | 3 | 1.01 | 27% |
Speaking via talkSPORT, Gabby Agbonlahor said: “We can’t now pretend it was too much. Some people went too far, calling him a clown, I get that.”
To which Stelling replied: “That’s outrageous.”
Ultimately, when a Spurs boss is hired, their main objective is to win a major trophy, and now that Postecoglou has achieved that, question marks will emerge over his future in North London.
Tottenham must make Postecoglou decision
For months up until the final, it felt like a matter of time until Postecoglou was sacked, but after their Europa League win, his future is uncertain.
Given the fact that Tottenham could finish as low as 17th, some would argue his sacking would still be justified, while others would label it as harsh.
For Spurs, they need to make a decision as to whether they believe he is the man to lead them forward, with a huge summer ahead of them as they prepare for life back in the Champions League.
