Simon Jordan names Tottenham and Levy after new Chelsea bombshell – ‘I’ve seen it all now’

Tottenham and Chelsea fans appear to have similar goals as they continue to protest against the ownership of Daniel Levy and Todd Boehly.

Tottenham are having a terrible season by their standards and many supporters feel as though the blame lies at Levy’s door.

The Spurs chief isn’t known for being a big spender, but with a high level of injuries this term, many feel as though Levy hasn’t put in as much as he should have to help Ange Postecoglou.

Simon Jordan names Tottenham in Chelsea bombshell

Supporters have made no secret of their unhappiness with Levy this season with several protests against the running of the club.

Tottenham have been linked to several ownership changes, although some feel as though the timing of these rumours are in line with backlash against Levy to try and quieten protests.

Supporters of the North London outfit have never been quiet about their disapproval of their ownership and, of late, other clubs are expressing similar feelings.

Manchester United are, similarly to Spurs, having a horrific season and struggling in the Premier League table, leading to plans of protest at Old Trafford.

Chelsea fans have also gone against Boehly, despite him spending billions at Stamford Bridge.

However, writing in the Daily Mail (6 March, page 73), Jordan admitted he feels as though the activism has gone too far, saying: “At one time, owners were rarely part of an average supporter’s thinking.

“But the mentality has shifted to the point where it feels to be castigated and criticised – or to empty the entire contents of their wallets until the next fool comes along and does the same.

“There have been campaigns against the Glazers at Manchester United and an anti-Daniel Levy manifesto from Tottenham followers, at times not without merit. Now there are marches protesting against Todd Boehly, who has put billions into Chelsea and is therefore accused of spending too much.

Tottenham deserve better than Levy

There are some positives when you look at Levy’s ownership of Tottenham because he has them in a strong financial position that is sustainable.

If you compare their finances to those of Manchester United, who are making massive losses, the chief deserves some credit for that.

Furthermore, as Jordan points out, when you see supporters of clubs like Chelsea protesting for the way things are being run with too much money, it does leave a question over what is the right amount of support.

However, when you look at Spurs this season, there is no doubt that they have suffered so much due to a lack of squad depth to cover for injured players.

In the winter transfer window, there was an opportunity for Levy to back Postecoglou more than he did, which may have helped when it came to the Carabao Cup semi-final meltdown and FA Cup defeat.

At the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, supporters are just asking to see some ambition to achieve something which does not seem like an unreasonable request.

As a former owner himself, Jordan is naturally going to have some different views on it, but given he too feels as though Spurs fans have had a reason to protest at times, it signals that Levy has to step up to the plate more.
