Robbie Savage shocked by ‘Unbelievable’ Tottenham reveal he saw

Robbie Savage can’t believe Tottenham have as many points as Crystal Palace in the Premier League this season.

After 21 league games, Spurs are 14th in the table with 24 points, which has baffled the Welshman.

Savage feels the North London outfit won’t be dragged into a relegation battle despite suggestions that Ange Postecoglou is heading that way.

Writing in the print edition of the Daily Mirror (18 January, pg 67), Savage wrote: “After 21 games, Spurs have as many points as Palace, which is unbelievable.

“A few weeks ago, we were asking whether Manchester United could get sucked into a relegation battle when they were 13th, so there might be people asking if the same applies to Tottenham when they are 14th.

“No chance — there’s no way Spurs are going down, and it’s nonsense to suggest otherwise.”

Ange Postecoglou pressure increases at Tottenham

After what has happened this season, Postecoglou will undoubtedly be under pressure at the Lilywhites.

Daniel Levy has a lot of questions to answer, but it feels like Spurs’ chairman is backing the Australian manager for now.

The injuries haven’t helped Postecoglou in the squad, and all eyes will be on the Tottenham chief to bolster his squad in the winter transfer window.

Over the last few weeks, the Lilywhites have used Radu Dragusin and Archie Gray as their centre-back pairing, and it’s not surprising that recent matches have had negative results.

Any team in the Premier League would struggle if they had so many fitness issues to contend with.

Tottenham’s current position in the table isn’t a reflection of whether Postecoglou is the right man for the job.

The recruitment team needs to be scrutinised for letting things get to this point, as Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven’s injury records have been evident in previous seasons.

Spurs fans have every right to be angry, but that frustration can’t be directed towards Postecoglou.
