Rio Ferdinand cannot believe what Kieran Maguire said about Tottenham – ‘Oh my gosh’

Rio Ferdinand could not believe what Kieran Maguire said about Tottenham when talking about the best-run Premier League clubs.

Tottenham are having a difficult season and currently sit 13th in the Premier League table, well below where you would normally expect them to be.

However, supporters have been casting their votes throughout the season over whether their poor form is a result of Ange Postecoglou’s failings or Daniel Levy.

Ferdinand laughs over Tottenham trophy dig

With Spurs sitting low in the table and also out of both domestic cups, it is little surprise that there has been speculation surrounding Postecoglou’s future in North London.

Although the boss has suffered from injuries in his side, there is certainly a feeling that he needs to take some responsibility for his tactical failings this term too.

On the other hand, frustration with owner Levy has continued to grow this term and protests over the ownership have been loud.

The chief did not back the manager as well as he could have in the winter transfer window and many feel that a lack of funds from the top means that regardless of who is in charge, no success will come to North London.

However, on the Rio Presents podcast, Ferdinand asked Maguire who he thinks is the best run side in the Premier League and he responded: “Spurs. They are the most profitable club in the history of the Premier League by far.

“Best stadium. Lowest wages compared to the money coming in. As a business, if I take away my football hat and I put on my business hat, it’s absolutely perfect.”

Maguire couldn’t resist taking a little dig though, as he added: “Also, they don’t have to pay any bonuses for winning trophies.”

Ferdinand was left laughing as he said: “Oh my gosh. Shots have been fired.”

Levy needs to bring Tottenham a trophy

As Maguire points out, Levy deserves credit in some respects given he has got Tottenham in a sustainable and profitable position.

From a business sense, he is certainly an excellent owner and Spurs will never have to worry over the future of their club as a result.

However, football means nothing if you are aiming for mediocrity and that seems to be exactly what has been going on at Tottenham for several years with Levy never injecting that cash to push his team to achieve something.

All supporters in North London want to see is some ambition and enjoy the opportunity to win something, which has been promised by their manager who has a reputation for a successful second season.

Tottenham have bigger concerns to deal with

Levy is certainly a chief on the over-cautious side and protests against him will only continue if he carries on lacking when it comes to matters on the pitch.

With only the Europa League left to play for this term, it is essential that Spurs give this their all to try and bring real success to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
