Richarlison now ‘has to leave’ Tottenham after developments at Spurs
Richarlison has not had the sort of impact at Tottenham that he or supporters would have hoped for when he signed from Everton in the summer of 2022.
The Brazil international has had struggles with form and fitness, with Spurs’ collective issues – that see them 14th in the Premier League – leading to speculation over the future of Ange Postecoglou.
Postecoglou has not been helped by injuries on the pitch, though, which has left his side light on numbers for some of the campaign.
Troy Deeney thinks Richarlison must leave Tottenham
Spurs have lacked players defensively this term through injury issues but have also shown a lack of firepower at the top end of the pitch.
Therefore, with Dominic Solanke out with an injury and Timo Werner massively underwhelming this term, Postecoglou would have been glad to have Richarlison back in the fold.
The Brazilian started his side’s Carabao Cup semi-final final second-leg defeat against Liverpool but was forced off the pitch at the halfway point of the game due to injury.
This latest issue comes after a period of terrible luck for the 27-year-old who has made just nine Premier League appearances throughout this season and has been unable to get an extended run in the team.
His latest problem led Troy Deeney to ponder what his future holds and he admitted to talkSPORT (9 February): “I think he is going to have to leave, because where does he go?
“It’s sad to say, but if you haven’t done it at Spurs, he’s probably going to end up going Saudi, somewhere like that.
“[He can] make a few quid for himself, but he needs to stay fit and available.
“It’s a shame because he’s a good player, he’s a very good boy and a nice lad.”
Richarlison running out of time at Tottenham
Unfortunately for the forward, his time with Tottenham has certainly not gone the way he would have wanted it to and his latest injury has led to frustration over his situation on both sides.
The Lilywhites find themselves in a position where they desperately need to improve and the manager will be well aware of this being the case, with his job hanging in the balance.

Spurs did manage to secure the signing of Mathys Tel during the winter transfer window who will bolster their attacking options.
However, at just 19-years-old, it’s questionable whether he will be the man who can transform his side’s luck on the pitch.
Therefore, this may well leave the North London outfit in a position during the summer transfer window of feeling like they have to part ways with Richarlison in order to make the space to bring in other options that can take them forward.
Unfortunately for the Brazilian, this could end up with him having to seek his future somewhere like Saudi Arabia and take a step towards the end of his career as he is seemingly unable to manage with the intensity of a higher level of football going forward.
