Richarlison awful, Mikey Moore 8/10 – Tottenham player ratings v IF Elfsborg
Ange Postecoglou had his youngsters to thank as Tottenham beat IF Elfsborg 3-0 on Thursday.
Postecoglou took a risk by starting Micky van de Ven in the UEFA Europa League at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 30 January, with some suggestions that this was a “stackable offence”.
However, the Dutchman looked comfortable on his return as Spurs recorded a 3-0 win thanks to Dane Scarlett, Damola Ajayi and Mikey Moore’s first Tottenham goals, which saw the North London side through to the last 16 of the Europa League.
Tottenham News has rated the performance of each player out of 10.
Brandon Austin – 6
Had very little to do between the sticks in North London.
Pedro Porro – 6
Didn’t have much to do defensively and looked to get forward where he could.
Micky van de Ven – 7
Looked relatively comfortable on his return to action despite having little to do. Spurs look like a different side with the Dutchman in the team.
Ben Davies – 6
Didn’t have much to do on a relatively quiet night at the back for Spurs.
Archie Gray – 6
Another impressive performance for the 18-year-old who once again looked at home out of position.
Pape Matar Sarr – 6
Didn’t put a foot wrong in the middle of the park as he helped Spurs to get forward with his running power.
Rodrigo Bentancur – 6
Looked relatively comfortable in the middle of the park.
Lucas Bergvall – 5
Worked hard and constantly looked to get on the ball. However, he was sloppy in possession at times and let Postecoglou down with some of his passing.
Mikey Moore – 8
Looked bright on the ball and scored a delightful first goal for the club in the dying moments of the match.
Richarlison struggles for Tottenham v IF Elfsborg
Richarlison – 4
Lacked any presence up front and never looked like scoring for Postecoglou’s side. Took Scarlett just minutes to score after coming on, while the Brazillian offered nothing.

Son Heung-min – 8
One of the South Korean forward’s best performances in a long time. Constantly got the better of his full-back and looked as though he was enjoying himself before being replaced at halftime.
Subsitutes
Radu Drăgușin (On for Micky van de Ven at HT) – N/A
Had very little to do before he was forced off with an injury.
Dejan Kulusevski (On for Son Heung-min at HT) – 7
Seemed to benefit from a rest in the first half and provided an incredible ball for Scarlett to head home.
Yves Bissouma (On for Rodrigo Bentancur at HT) – 6
Looked at home on his return from injury.
Dane Scarlett (On for Drăgușin, 66′) – 7
Came up with a huge moment for Postecoglou as he netted his first goal in Spurs colours. The 20-year-old will hope it kickstarts a run in the Tottenham team.
Damola Ajayi (On for Richarlison, 81′) – 7
A dream debut for the 18-year-old who grabbed a goal minutes after coming on.
