Richard Keys has clearly lost the plot with next Tottenham manager suggestion
Richard Keys believes Glenn Hoddle would be more capable of keeping Tottenham in the Premier League than Igor Tudor.
After losing his first two games in charge to Fulham and Arsenal, interim boss Tudor would have hoped Tottenham could finally end their barren spell at home to Crystal Palace on Thursday.
Instead, Spurs slumped to a 3-1 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, as the hosts never recovered from Micky van de Ven‘s first-half red card.
The result leaves them just a point above the relegation zone in 16th, as Tottenham’s hunt for a first league win stretches to 11 games.
Amid talk that Tudor could be sacked by Tottenham after just three games in charge, pundit Keys thinks Spurs should bring in an old fan favourite, just as Celtic have done with Martin O’Neill this season.
Igor Tudor told he has to change ‘tough guy’ act
Following the Palace loss, where Tottenham took the lead through Dominic Solanke before the visitors scored three unanswered goals before the break, Spurs have now failed to win 11 successive league games for the first time since October 1975.
There have been very few positives to speak about during Tudor’s Tottenham tenure, with the Croatian not afraid to criticise the players at his disposal.
Now, beIN SPORTS host Keys thinks that the former Juventus manager needs to drop the “tough guy” act, and if he doesn’t, Tudor should be dismissed.
And despite Hoddle’s last managerial post ending in 2006 at Wolves, Keys thinks the former England manager should lead Spurs for the rest of the season.
“Igor Tudor’s tough guy act at Spurs isn’t impressing anyone – least of all the players,” Keys wrote on X.
“Either he’s got to change or he should be changed. Spurs could follow Celtic’s example and put a ‘grandad’ coach in. It’s got to be Glenn Hoddle.
To Keys’ point on O’Neill, the former Aston Villa boss had also been out of management for quite some time, with his previous last post coming back in 2019 at Nottingham Forest.
But the Northern Irishman has impressed in his first and second interim stints at Celtic this season. However, the Hoops are one of the best teams in the Scottish Premiership but Tottenham are currently the worst side in the division.
Either way, Tudor is running out of time to keep Spurs up.
Glenn Hoddle has already said if he’d take on Tottenham job
Hoddle played nearly 500 games for Tottenham, scoring 110 goals in the process, and is one of their all-time greats.
He returned to manage the club between April 2021 and September 2003, where he won 41 of his 104 matches in charge before being sacked nearly 23 years ago.
In 2013, Hoddle said he had been offered a chance to return to management 26 times in seven years but opted against another spell in the dugout.
However, it seems he would make a special exception for Tottenham.

Before the Palace loss, Hoddle said on The Good, The Bad & The Football: “I think it would actually. Particularly with Tottenham, as that’s my club. I’ve supported them since I was eight years of age. So they were a massive part of my life.”
These are desperate times for Tottenham but it may be a stretch to think that Hoddle will replace Tudor if the 47-year-old is dismissed.
However, Spurs stand to lose hundreds of millions if they get relegated so maybe another managerial appointment could happen if Tudor can’t turn their fortunes around.
