Redknapp rages after what Roy Keane said about Tottenham v Bournemouth – ‘Why?

Tottenham could only manage a 2-2 draw against Bournemouth at N17 on Sunday.

Pressure keeps on mounting on Ange Postecoglou, with the Cherries unfortunate not to be out of sight before a late comeback from Spurs.

The draw leaves Spurs with 34 points in 28 Premier League games, sitting 13th in the league table, after goals from Pape Sarr and Son Heung-min.

Jamie Redknapp and Roy Keane wowed

Andoni Iraola’s side were the better team of the afternoon as they looked solid in possession and held their fort when being pressured.

Bournemouth had a total of 17 shots at Spurs’ goal out of which eight were on target. The visitors also had a better xG of 2.74 as compared to Tottenham’s 1.52.

While Spurs did have a greater share of possession, it was Bournemouth who were making their possession count by creating chances and penetrating through the Spurs defence with ease.

Roy Keane insisted that the Cherries were the better side in the first half, as they dominated for large spells of the draw.

He said on Sky Sports: “Bournemouth have been the better team. They look sharper and fresher.”

Jamie Redknapp couldn’t believe it though, admitting that it was Spurs who basically played into the hands of their opponents at the back.

He replied: “Why are Tottenham trying to play out against one of the best teams at stopping you.”

Time for Postecoglou to leave Tottenham?

The Australian manager has failed to impress in his second season at the North London club.

Postecoglou’s impressive system did attract applause in his first season at the club as Spurs finished fifth in the league, narrowly missing out on Champions League football.

This season, Spurs have stuttered at each stage of the season. In the Premier League, they are heading for a mid-table finish and have already crashed out of the FA and Carabao Cup.

Their exploits in the UEFA Europa League could end prematurely as they are one-goal down after the first leg of the round of 16 tie against AZ Alkmaar.

The inconsistent performances from players have been one of the main reasons for their rut, and it still shows no signs of improving despite injured options returning.

Should the Lilywhites exit the Europa League, Postecoglou could be shown the exit door sooner rather than later.
