Redknapp makes Tottenham Europa League prediction after ‘shocking’ claim
Harry Redknapp has predicted how far Tottenham will go in the Europa League after their “shocking” Premier League form.
Ange Postecoglou’s team beat AZ Alkmaar 3-1 at home on Thursday (13 March) and booked their place in the quarter-finals of the European competition.
The North London outfit haven’t been at their best in the English top flight, sitting 13th in the table.
Spurs will struggle to get a Champions League spot as they find themselves a long way off the top four, and their only hope could come from the Europa League.

Tottenham to face Manchester United in Europa League final
Redknapp has predicted that Tottenham will face Manchester United in the Europa League final.
The former Spurs boss believes the two Premier League teams will reach the final of the competition in Bilbao despite their poor domestic seasons.
Ray Parlour also thinks lifting the trophy in Spain would redeem either team’s campaigns.
Premier League table (2024/25) | Points |
10. Fulham | 42 |
11. Crystal Palace | 39 |
12. Brentford | 38 |
13. Tottenham | 34 |
14. Manchester United | 34 |
15. Everton | 33 |
Speaking on talkSPORT (14 March, 8:09), the ex-Arsenal midfielder said: “You look at Spurs and Man United, they’re both in the same boat. They’ve had a nightmare in the Premier League.”
Redknapp responded: “Shocking, yeah.”
Parlour continued: “But if one of them goes on to win the tournament, they get a Champions League spot, and it’s a great season for both of them.”
Redknapp added: “They would be favourites, obviously. You look at the competition, there’s not a lot in it. You think Man United or Tottenham could meet in the final. I think that’s how it pans out.”
Postecoglou to break Spurs trophy drought
Postecoglou has struggled massively at Spurs in recent months, and the number of injuries hasn’t helped his cause.
The Australian manager had seemingly hinted at winning a trophy in his second season at the North London outfit, but elimination from the Carabao and FA Cup has diminished those hopes.
Daniel Levy could have possibly sacked Postecoglou after this season’s domestic failures, but no decision has been made so far.
It wouldn’t be surprising to see the former Celtic boss lose his job in N17 if he doesn’t win the Europa League.
The Australian head coach clearly has an added incentive to go all the way in the European competition.
Spurs will now face Eintracht Frankfurt over two legs in April and will need to be at their best to get into the semi-finals.
Man United have been struggling as well, and Postecoglou will arguably be confident of beating Ruben Amorim if they do meet in the final.
The North London outfit’s fans have been waiting for 17 years to see their team lift a trophy, and the Australian manager will put his name in the history books if he can give it to them.
