Pundit makes January transfer prediction at Tottenham amid ‘difficult situation’ for Ange Postecoglou
We’re delighted to welcome former Scotland right-back Alan Hutton as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium…
Ange Postecoglou is facing a “difficult situation” at Tottenham due to the mounting absences and will definitely be looking to add reinforcements in the January transfer market, says Alan Hutton.
Last week it was confirmed that centre-back Cristian Romero will be sidelined for around four to five weeks, joining the likes of James Maddison and Micky van de Ven on the treatment table.
Yves Bissouma is suspended and will soon head off to the Africa Cup of Nations as will Pape Matar Sarr, while Son Heung-min will be absent when he represents South Korea at the Asian Cup.

It leaves Postecoglou facing a huge dilemma with an increasingly stretched squad at a busy period in the season.
Former Tottenham defender Hutton says the best scenario is players returning from injury but he reckons Postecoglou will want to add bodies as well next month.
Speaking to Tottenham News, he said: “Yeah of course he will be (concerned) in a way because when his full squad is fit you’re happy, plenty of options, options in different positions all covered, so you’re actually in a not bad situation.

“But at this point, you look defensively, Romero out again, you’ve got Van de Ven he’s obviously still out, you’ve got Emerson Royal playing in the back four there it’s not ideal so he needs reinforcement.
“So he’ll definitely be looking, there’s positions in that squad where he needs people to come in.
“That being said, he probably wants a few back from injury that would definitely lighten the load so it must be a difficult situation for him at this moment in time.”
