Postecoglou team meeting reveal emerges after Tottenham loss v Nottingham Forest

Former Tottenham goalkeeper Joe Hart has shared an insight into Ange Postecoglou’s managerial style after the loss to Nottingham Forest.

The Lilywhites suffered a fourth defeat in five Premier League matches at the City Ground (26 December) with Anthony Elanga’s 28th-minute strike the difference between the two sides.

As a result of the loss, the Spurs boss is now the bookmakers’ favourite to be the next manager to be sacked in the English top flight [BetVictor].

The former Manchester City stopper, who worked under Postecoglou at Celtic, shared how the Australian manages his team [Match of the Day, 26 December], saying: “Ange requires everyone to be singing from the same hymn sheet.

“He’ll be analytical, the meetings pre and post-match are very important in the way he works with his team.

“He’s not necessarily one to sit down and have conversations. There will be the dreaded ring around you when things are going wrong, in that meeting room.

“Spurs players are going to have to take some harsh criticism but ultimately he’s going to want to play the good football we know they are capable of, more consistently.”

Postecoglou deserves more time at Tottenham

The former Celtic manager is under severe pressure to turn things around in North London after a tough start to the season.

His side has been far too inconsistent with high-scoring victories over Manchester City and Aston Villa being overshadowed by losses to Ipswich, Bournemouth, Nottingham Forest, Chelsea and Liverpool.

They are ten points off of the top four and currently find themselves in 11th place in the league after a run of four losses in their last five league games.

However, that recent run has coincided with the loss of first-choice goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario and centre-backs Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero.

Also, Postecoglou has not been backed in the transfer market and to implement his playing style properly with the Lilywhites, he needs to be.

Ultimately, chopping and changing managers constantly will do the club more harm than good, he should be given the time to turn things around.
