Postecoglou sack: Tottenham ‘hold talks with Allegri’ as contract offer emerges

Tottenham have already held talks with Massimiliano Allegri over replacing Ange Postecoglou, according to Corriere Dello Sport.

The Italian outlet reported on 18 January that Daniel Levy held informal discussions with the former Juventus boss, but there was no offer placed on the table.

However, the report also claims that Allegri has been offered a substantial contract by Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli.

It states that the Italian will consider the offer once his agent, Giovanni Branchini, returns from Australia later this month.

Ange Postecoglou on thin ice at Tottenham

The Australian is on thin ice at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after recording just two wins in Spurs’ last seven matches as the club sit 15th in the Premier League.

Graeme Souness has warned the former Celtic man that his message is not getting across to his players, but urged him not to alienate the dressing room by venting his true feelings.

Postecoglou could be given time to save his job in North London with a favourable run of fixtures coming up in the new few weeks.

The Lilywhites face Everton, Leicester City and Brentford in the Premier League, as well as Hoffenheim and IF Elfsborg in the Europa League, before the second leg of the EFL Cup semi-final against Liverpool.

If Postecoglou can grind out several victories and secure an EFL Cup final berth then he will probably survive in the dugout for now.

However, if he fails then his future could be under scrutiny and Levy might decide that he is not the man to take the club forward.

In other Tottenham news, Manchester United could be set to sanction a loan deal for Marcus Rashford amid Spurs’ interest in the forward.
