Postecoglou sack: Tottenham boss favourite for axe after club announcement

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou is now the favourite to be the next Premier League manager sacked after Sean Dyche’s dismissal at Everton.

Everton announced the exit of Dyche on Thursday (9 January), a little over 24 hours after Julen Lopetegui was given the boot by West Ham United.

With those two managers gone, Postecoglou is now the 4/6 favourite with Paddy Power to be the next manager out of a job in the English top flight.

Ruud van Nistelrooy (9/1) is next on the list, despite only recently being appointed by strugglers Leicester City.

Ange Postecoglou needs consistent results at Tottenham

Talk of Postecoglou being sacked sounds ridiculous on the back of a hugely positive 1-0 win over Liverpool in the first leg of the EFL Cup semi-final.

However, every step forward is seemingly followed by two steps back this season.

The Tamworth FA Cup tie is a no-win situation for Postecoglou, as comfortable progression is expected. A defeat really is not worth thinking about.

What the Australian needs right now more than anything is a string of victories, which have been hard to come by of late.

The Tamworth cup tie is followed by trips to Arsenal and then Everton in the league, before heading to Hoffenheim in the Europa League.

With Lopetegui and Dyche gone, Postecoglou is now top of the sack list. The only way that will change is by picking up a some positive results from those aforementioned matches.

In other Tottenham news, Postecoglou was spotted in a bizarre incident after the win over Liverpool.
