Postecoglou sack: Thomas Frank on three-man ‘shortlist’ amid Tottenham update
Thomas Frank has been mentioned as a candidate to replace Ange Postecoglou as the next Tottenham manager.
Postecoglou is under immense pressure at Tottenham after they succumbed to a 2-0 defeat against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday (16 March), thus suffering their 15th Premier League loss of the season.
It is worth noting that this is already the most number of matches Spurs have lost in a single Premier League campaign since the 2008-09 season.
Hence, the fact that there are nine more games left to play has raised serious question marks about Postecoglou’s future as the North London giants’ boss.

Frank joins Andonio Iraola and Marco Silva on shortlist
Rumours about Tottenham sacking Postecoglou are rife following their defeat against Fulham at the weekend.
Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola and Fulham’s Marco Silva have already emerged as the leading candidates to replace the former Celtic boss.
Iraola would be interested in taking the reins at Tottenham, although the Cherries are determined to tie him to a new contract, while there are doubts over Silva’s future at Craven Cottage.
Manager | Current Job | Games | Points Per Match |
Postecoglou | Tottenham | 87 | 1.59 |
Frank | Brentford | 308 | 1.51 |
Iraola | Bournemouth | 78 | 1.49 |
Silva | Fulham | 174 | 1.60 |
In the meantime, Darren Bent has suggested Brentford boss Frank as another manager Spurs should consider hiring.
The talkSPORT pundit also stressed the need for Postecoglou to focus entirely on the UEFA Europa League between now and the end of the season.
“14th, that is bad! A club like Tottenham should not lose more games than they win, and the fact that they have only won 10 and lost 15, that’s really bad”, Bent said on talkSPORT (17 March, 6:06 pm).
“It doesn’t surprise me they are looking at Andoni Iraola, Thomas Frank and Marco Silva. They were the three I thought would be on the shortlist.
“I look at their Premier League performances and it just comes down to the Europa League.”
Postecoglou to stay in charge of Tottenham
A day has passed since Tottenham suffered a demoralising defeat against Fulham and the club are yet to make an announcement regarding Postecoglou.
This might suggest that Spurs intend to stick with the Greek-Australian manager for the time being.
They are still active in the UEFA Europa League and are set to face Eintracht Frankfurt in the quarter-finals.
Success in the European competition might ultimately determine Postecoglou’s future in North London.
