Postecoglou ‘sack still likely at Tottenham’ despite first leg Bodo/Glimt victory
Tottenham recorded a 3-1 victory over Bodo/Glimt in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final tie, to put themselves within touching distance of the final.
Ange Postecoglou’s side headed into the game knowing that it was perhaps their biggest of the season, and they got off to the perfect start as Brennan Johnson scored within one minute.
James Maddison and Dominic Solanke also netted to hand Tottenham a 3-0 lead, but Bodo/Glimt pulled a goal back towards the end.
Postecoglou was under pressure as Spurs boss heading into the game, but it now appears that the Australian will still leave regardless of any potential Europa League victory.

Darren Bent claims Postecoglou will leave Tottenham regardless of Europa
It is now claimed that even if Spurs do win the Europa League, Postecoglou’s poor campaign means Tottenham may part ways with him anyway.
Before the victory over Bodo/Glimt, former Tottenham striker Darren Bent told talkSPORT (May 01) that he believes Postecoglou will leave regardless of how their Europa League campaign goes.
Opponent | Result |
Wolves (A) | 4-2 L |
Frankfurt (A) | 0-1 W |
Nottingham Forest (H) | 1-2 L |
Liverpool (A) | 5-1 L |
Bodo/Glimt (H) | 3-1 W |
“He knows the fans want him out. He knows that some of the fans are almost waiting to go out of the competition to get rid of him,” Bent claimed.
“I think even if he wins it, he’s gone.”
Postecoglou two games from Tottenham glory
Spurs now know that they can secure their place in the Europa League final as long as they remain professional in the second leg against Bodo.
If Tottenham reach the final in Bilbao, they are likely to face Manchester United, who recorded a 3-0 victory away at Athletic Club.
Tottenham have not won a trophy since 2008, but if they do reach the final and record a triumph, it would see them end a 17-year drought in the hunt for silverware.
Some fans have already made up their mind on Postecoglou as they lay 16th in the Premier League, but if he does secure the trophy, some may be willing to give him another season in charge.
However, anything less than victory would be a disaster, and would certainly mean Postecoglou leaves.
