Postecoglou sack: O’Hara drops ‘massive’ Tottenham admission ahead of Hoffenheim

Jamie O’Hara has admitted Hoffenheim versus Tottenham could be “massive” for Ange Postecoglou’s job in North London.

The Lilywhites are set to travel to Germany to take on the Bundesliga strugglers on Thursday 23 January, with Postecoglou’s side hoping to secure an automatic spot in the Europa League round of 16.

Spurs are currently one spot outside of the top eight, only behind Rangers on goal difference, and many feel the result against Hoffenheim could decide the manager’s fate after months of pressure.

Speaking live via talkSPORT [23 January, 9:40am], O’Hara said: “I speak to a lot of fans. Many are ‘Ange In’, many are ‘Ange Out’, everyone’s blaming Levy, and he is to blame for the signings and where he wants to take the club, but Ange needs to take a look at himself.

“That game is massive, it’s huge. If they get knocked out of that, I think he could soon be leaving. He can’t afford to lose another game before the Liverpool clash [EFL Cup semi-final].”

Ange Postecoglou to be sacked by Tottenham soon?

Postecoglou is certainly running out of time to save himself from the sack in North London, with Daniel Levy already being tipped to pull the trigger at some point this season.

With a number of important stars sidelined for weeks, the manager has the sympathy of some fans, with the likes of Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Destiny Udogie and Guglielmo Vicario all unavailable.

Attacking and scoring goals does not look to be an issue, with only Liverpool scoring more in the Premier League so far this term, but that has not helped turn the current form around.

Spurs have been leaking goals, and with Postecoglou refusing to change his style of play and adapt to his current situation, fans’ patience is wearing thin, and understandably so.

A defeat against Hoffenheim, who have only claimed victory in one of their last 10 games across all competitions, would all but seal his fate in North London, but it remains to be seen who would replace him.
