Postecoglou sack: Odds slashed on Tottenham dismissal after Spurs development

Tottenham are increasingly likely to sack Ange Postecoglou ahead of their Europa League clash with Rangers, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.

BetVictor have slashed the odds on Daniel Levy axing the under-fire Australian after Spurs’ 4-3 defeat to Chelsea on Sunday (8 December).

West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui and Wolves boss Gary O’Neil (2/1) are the current joint-favourites to be the next Premier League managed sacked.

After them, Postecoglou and Russell Martin are both at 4/1 with Postecoglou previously being in double figures.

BetVictor spokesperson Sam Boswell said: “Tottenham’s loss to Chelsea on Sunday evening moves their run without a win to four games. As a result, Ange Postecoglou has been cut to 4/1 to be the next Premier League manager sacked.

“The Aussie manager had quotes of double-figure prices prior to the weekend, but pressure looks to be mounting on Ange and the money for him to go next reflects that. He’s preceded by Julen Lopetegui and Gary O’Neil – the under-fire pair are joint at the top of the market at 2/1.

“Ange’s potential sacking would see several big names linked to the job; Graham Potter is the current 4/1 favourite with Kieran McKenna and Roberto De Zerbi also in the reckoning.”

Will Tottenham sack Ange Postecoglou?

Spurs have struggled to have consistency in the dugout since Mauricio Pochettino’s exit in 2019.

Pochettino was in North London for five years and in the five years that have preceded his departure, Daniel Levy has hired four permanent managers.

Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo, Antonio Conte and now Postecoglou all endured difficult spells at the club.

Clearly, chopping and changing managers hasn’t worked for Spurs because a lot of progress has been lost over the five years since Pochettino left.

It’s time for Tottenham fans to dig in and get behind the Aussie, who clearly is a great guy and has a solid philosophy on how to game. It’s just the execution that isn’t right at the moment and injuries really haven’t helped.

Will Spurs sack him? He might be another loss or two away from the chop, in truth. But Levy should really do his best to stand by his man and back him to oversee a revival.
