Postecoglou sack latest: Odds slashed after major Premier League development

Ange Postecoglou is part of a Tottenham twist as Premier League sack odds have been slashed after a major development.

The Australian manager hasn’t had the best seasons at the North London outfit, and at one point, it looked like he could be fired.

Fans expected Daniel Levy to dismiss Postecoglou after the Lilywhites were eliminated from the FA and Carabao Cup.

Spurs have also been poor in the Premier League as they sit 13th in the table, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the former Celtic boss depart if things get worse.

Tottenham odds to sack Postecoglou drift as Ruud van Nistelrooy favourite

Postecoglou is no longer the favourite to be sacked next in the Premier League after Leicester City lost to West Ham United.

The Australian manager has seen his odds drift to 4/1 and 5/2, with Ruud van Nistelrooy’s sacking seemingly likely after being slashed to 1/2 and 4/9 on Sky Bet and William Hill, respectively on Oddschecker.

Postecoglou managed to get a few decent results against Manchester United and Ipswich Town before being beaten by Manchester City in the Premier League at home on Wednesday (26 February).

The Foxes have been on a downward spiral, losing 2-0 at the London Stadium on Thursday (27 February), their 11th loss in the last 12 league matches.

Van Nistelrooy to get the boot at Leicester before Spurs sack Postecoglou

Postecoglou could still win the Europa League and drown the noise around his future at Tottenham.

The former Celtic boss seemingly hinted at winning a title at the North London outfit this season a few months back, but the prospects look bleak after being knocked out of the domestic cup competitions.

Getting into the top four this season in the Premier League will be tough for Spurs, let alone challenging Liverpool for the trophy.

The Australian manager still has a chance of turning things around in Europe as they face AZ Alkmaar in the first leg of the round of 16 away from home on 6 March.

If the Lilywhites manage to win the Europa League, Postecoglou’s name will go down in history in N17 for ending their 17-year trophy drought.

Winning the competition would also get the North London outfit into next season’s Champions League, which should definitely boost their financial coffers.

As things stand, the 59-year-old head coach seems to have the backing of the hierarchy and looks set to stay unless something drastic happens.
