Postecoglou sack: Daniel Levy blame claim made after what Tottenham fans did

Tottenham fans believe that Daniel Levy is the man to “blame” for their poor form this season, Phil McNulty has said.

Spurs were defeated 3-2 by Everton on Sunday and instead of Ange Postecoglou being at the centre of the fans’ chants, it was Levy who received the brunt of supporters’ ire, the BBC chief football writer said.

Throughout the 2024/25 season so far, it’s been made evident that changes are needed within the North London club but at the moment, things aren’t quite panning out that way.

Writing for the BBC Sport website (21 January), McNulty shared what fans were doing to direct their disdain towards their chairman.

“I was at Goodison Park yesterday and, at least judging by the noise coming from the Spurs fans, there is no doubt who they blame,” he reported via the BBC Sport website (21 January).

“They went through their full anti-Daniel Levy songsheet, and while they gave the team a very rough reception at half-time then just drifted away at the end. I did not detect any chants aimed at Ange Postecoglou.”

Tottenham and Ange Postecoglou need to find a way to turn things around soon

As has been the case for most of the 2024/25 season, Tottenham have needed to find a way to turn things around and get back to winning ways.

Of course, the sheer amount of injuries that they’ve suffered this term needs to be taken into account but at the moment, it feels like even with the thinned-out squad they have, it feels like they should be doing far better than what they have recently.

Indeed, the former Celtic boss has said that he won’t change his ways but for the last few weeks, its felt like he’ll be nearing the point of no return if he can’t find a way to get his team back to winning ways.

There’s still around half of the season left so there is plenty of time for things to turn around but at the moment, it’s anyone’s guess about how things are going to pan out.

And, if Levy doesn’t dip into his pockets before the end of the winter window to bring in some more new faces, it’s hard to see how it’s ever going to get better this season.

In other Tottenham news, the squad were shocked by Postecoglou’s treatment of captain Son Heung-Min.
