Postecoglou in ‘severe’ Tottenham exit twist as Redknapp makes Sky Sports claim
Harry Redknapp hopes Ange Postecoglou is able to turn things around at Tottenham.
The Aussie’s side have dropped down to 15th in the Premier League table after winning just one of their 11 games and the pressure is on for the ex-Celtic manager to stop the rot and push Spurs back up the standings.
Despite Spurs’ lowly position, chairman Daniel Levy has stood by Postecoglou time and time again with football london reporting on 27 January that the 59-year-old will be backed during an injury crisis in his squad.
Tottenham have had the worst luck with injuries this season with almost every single senior player suffering at least one spell on the sidelines. Premier Injuries currently reports nine first-team issues for Postecoglou to contend with.
Even though the Lilywhite’s position in the table is terrible and their squad is ravaged by injuries, the only signing made in this winter transfer window has been goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky – although that looks like it might not be the case soon.
Spurs are also on the verge of reaching the Carabao Cup final after winning the first leg of their semi-final against Liverpool 1-0.
Tottenham could sack Postecoglou after Carabao Cup
Next week’s second leg at Anfield is vital and ex-Tottenham manager Redknapp believes that if his old side fail to win the silverware, Postecoglou could be on his way out.
“I like Ange, I like to see him succeed. And I think they’ve got to stay with him and give him more time to get the players fit,” Redknapp said on Sky Sports News on Thursday (30 January, 7:48pm).
“If you look back, they did lose games. They had bad results against teams like Ipswich and Crystal Palace.

“He’s still got a strong enough side there to do a little bit better than they have been and he’s getting the players back [from injury] now.
“Next week against Liverpool will be a massive game for them in the Carabao Cup.
“That’s a game where if they get to the final, if they get beat there and they don’t do well, like everybody, he’s going to come under severe pressure.
“I do like him and I do hope he succeeds.”
Lucas Bergvall controversially scored Spurs’ winner in the first leg at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 8 January.
He bagged an 86th-minute winner just seconds after he should have been sent off when he avoided a second yellow card for a reckless foul on Kostas Tsimikas.
Arne Slot’s league-leading Liverpool welcome Tottenham to Anfield next Thursday (6 February) and Spurs fans will be hoping that there’ll be some new additions in Postecoglou’s squad for that game.
