Postecoglou in ‘extraordinary’ Tottenham team news move v Liverpool – Sky Sports
Ange Postecoglou could be about to hand Antonin Kinsky his Tottenham Hotspur debut in their Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Liverpool, according to Rob Dorsett.
The reporter, live on Sky Sports (7 January, 19:35), revealed Postecoglou’s latest bold move could see the first January signing thrown straight in as Spurs reel from multiple squad absences including their two first-choice goalkeepers.
Kinsky, 21, completed his move to North London from Slavia Prague last Sunday (5 January), signing a six-and-a-half-year deal.
Dorsett explained: “It would be a huge gamble, it would be extraordinary. Maybe that’s where Spurs are – we have to make the point that it’s Antonin Kinsky we’re talking about here. He was the first Premier League signing of the window, and he got his work permit confirmed [on Monday] so he’s ready and available.
“He could be thrown in for his first match for Tottenham in a Carabao Cup semi-final against the league leaders, which would be a heck of a story. We know they have injury problems for their goalkeepers and Fraser Forster has a sickness bug.
“Brandon Austin came in and was man-of-the-match in some reports in their game against Newcastle, despite losing. So what does Ange Postecoglou do, say ‘I’ve got your back – this is your opportunity’?”

Tottenham have an unprecedented situation developing in their goalkeeping department, just one of a range of issues Postecoglou has to navigate.
With Guglielmo Vicario and Forster both ruled out – the latter in any case failing to inspire with his recent form – Austin and Alfie Whiteman alongside Kinsky represent the manager’s options to take on the undisputed best performers in the country this season.
Austin and Whiteman may be inexperienced at senior level but are aged 25 and 26 respectively, and the former put in an astute display despite finishing on the losing side against Newcastle last Saturday (4 January).
Kinsky is considerably younger but has played far more men’s football, with over 100 senior appearances under his belt to the combined 47 of Austin and Whiteman (24 and 23 respectively).
The young Czech will be expected to have a host of action coming his way should he be thrown in at the deep end, in what would be the biggest game of his career by a long stretch, and has a platform to go on and become a memorable player in a Spurs shirt during a tough time.
