Postecoglou called a disgrace after what he did in Tottenham v Newcastle United
Ange Postecoglou appears to have lost the backing of his supporters after Tottenham were beaten 2-1 by Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday.
Eddie Howe’s side ran out 2-1 winners at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 4 January, although the win wasn’t without a bit of controversy.
Despite the number of players unavailable against the Magpies, it appears as though Spurs fans weren’t in the mood to cut Postecoglou any slack, with calls for the Australian to be sacked at half-time.
Postecoglou will no doubt point toward the depleted squad he was forced to name as a result of a frustrating amount of injuries and players unavailable through illness. However, it seems as though the 59-year-old didn’t do himself any favours with one of his in-game decisions.
Tottenham fans fume as Lucas Bergvall is hooked v Newcastle
Lucas Bergvall was handed a rare Premier League start against Newcastle, and based on reactions across social media, it seems as though many were impressed by the 18-year-old midfielder.
However, the Swede didn’t last the full 90 minutes and was hooked in a triple change just past the hour mark, with Timo Werner and Pape Matar Sarr also making way as Son Heung-min, James Maddison and Yves Bissouma were all introduced.
And this was not a decision which went down well among Spurs fans, with some calling for Postecoglou to be sacked while another supporter branded the decision “ridiculous”.

Postecoglou can’t do much about players picking up injuries, despite what some might suggest [via the Sun, 3 January, page 51].
However, what he can do is recognise when a player is performing well and not take him off. Therefore, it is understandable why fans have been left so angry after this decision.
