Pochettino odds plummet to become next Tottenham boss after bombshell update
Mauricio Pochettino could make a sensational return to Tottenham if Ange Postecoglou is relieved of his duties, according to the latest bookmakers odds.
Pressure is mounting on the Australian after Spurs were knocked out of the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup within a four-day period.
He is the 4/7 favourite to be the next Premier League manager to be sacked with Bet Victor ahead of under-fire Leicester boss Ruud van Nistelrooy at 3/1.
The former Celtic man is looking forward to the sack, according to the Daily Mirror’s Andy Dunn after a miserable time in N17 recently.
Mauricio Pochettino to make sensational Tottenham comeback?
Pochettino embodies the most successful period of Spurs’ recent history when they reached the Champions League final but ultimately lost to Liverpool.
The Argentine was priced at 20/1 with Paddy Power (3 January) as a return to North London looked unlikely with Postecoglou seemingly safe in his job.
However, Bet Victor have slashed the odds on the 52-year-old and he is now the 7/2 favourite to replace the Australian if he is handed his marching orders.
Does Postecoglou deserve Tottenham sack?
Postecoglou has not helped his cause by refusing to abandon his tactical principles despite a dismal run of form which sees the Lilywhites in 14th place in the Premier League.
However, he deserves to be cut some slack considering he has had to deal with a brutal injury crisis and a lack of spending from the board, which has led to criticism of Daniel Levy.
The likes of Guglielmo Vicario, Christian Romero, Micky van de Ven, and Destiny Udogie have missed a significant period of time and the 59-year-old has been forced to play Archie Gray and Radu Dragusin in a makeshift backline.

The latter was ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering an injury in the 3-0 Europa League win over Elfsborg which forced Spurs into the transfer market and led to the signing of Kevin Danso, however, the club failed to secure a second centre-back signing.
A deadline-day move for Mathys Tel was secured to cover for Dominic Solanke and Richarlison’s injury woes and he scored on his full debut against Aston Villa but ultimately Postecoglou has not been given the tools to replicate Harry Kane’s goalscoring and creative output.
It is all well and good sacking him and bringing back Pochettino if they can prise him away from the United States national team but he would find exactly the same problems.
