Pedro Porro hails Tottenham teammate v Frankfurt – ‘What a player’

Tottenham are still level at the halfway point in their Europa League quarter-final after a 1-1 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Spurs were the home side on Thursday (10 April) and despite going behind within the opening 10 minutes, were able to come away with a draw.

It was a goal from Pedro Porro that made the difference but if Ange Postecoglou’s side are to progress, they will need to be on top form away from home.

Porro sends message after Tottenham draw

There was plenty of pressure on Postecoglou and his squad going into their Europa League tie after what has been a terrible season in north London.

The Australian’s future as boss at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium could well rest on the outcome of his side’s Europa League campaign this term.

Going into the away leg still level will do for Spurs but the away leg could prove a challenge meaning the Lilywhites will have to be the dominant side again.

Porro may have been the man who made the difference in front of goal for his side on Thursday, but the Spaniard was keen to praise his teammate instead.

Micky van de Ven posted on Instagram stating it was only the halfway point for his side and Porro commented on the post to say: “what a player Mickey”, accompanied by love heart eye emojis.

Postecoglou still has plenty of work to do

There has been constant debate at Tottenham this season over who is to blame for the side’s poor form.

Daniel Levy has come under plenty of criticism for his lack of investment in Spurs over a number of seasons which has left Tottenham in a difficult position.

Furthermore, a number of experienced players have been accused of not performing to their highest standards on a regular basis, including James Maddison.

Postecoglou cannot escape his share of the responsibility though and his lack of adaptability on the pitch to suit the injuries cast upon his squad has left his side losing games at times.

If Tottenham are unsuccessful in their European pursuit of a trophy, it looks highly likely that the boss will be let go which makes the replay a massive game in the season.

A Premier League game against Wolves comes first but it is likely that all focus will already be on the second leg of the quarter-final instead.

Going into the tie on level footing is fine for Tottenham but the pressure remains high and every member of the squad will have to be at their highest levels.
