O’Hara tears ’embarrassing’ Tottenham to shreds, takes aim at one player

Jamie O’Hara was livid with Tottenham’s performance in their 1-0 Europa League defeat to AZ Alkmaar on Thursday night.

Spurs were in dismal form yet again versus the Dutch outfit, with Dominic Solanke even coming off injured after only just returning to action.

The Europa League trophy is the final piece of silverware Ange Postecoglou has left to fight for this season with the competition being Spurs’ only way into the 2025/26 Champions League.

Jamie O’Hara makes feelings about Son Heung-min known

The 2024/25 season has been one to forget for Tottenham and with the way things are headed, it’s not going to get any easier.

At the start of the campaign, Spurs were expected to be challenging for a top-four spot but instead, they’ll be lucky to finish in the top half.

And, as has been the case for most of the campaign, O’Hara went on yet another massive rant about the performance of Tottenham.

“There have been three performances this season which are absolutely embarrassing in my opinion,” he said live on talkSPORT (6 March).

“The three biggest games, Aston Villa in the FA Cup, rubbish, Liverpool Carabao Cup second leg, get beat four-nil, embarrassing.

“Tonight, you got to AZ Alkmaar who by the way are a bang average side in Holland and we put in a dismal performance with a lack of quality, a lack of desire, a lack of fight, a lack of quality and its the same old story.

“Son, come on mate, step up to the plate.”

Tottenham need to beat AZ Alkmaar next time out

With how much is resting upon the Europa League for Tottenham, you’d expect the team to be putting their all into each performance.

However, the fact they’ve lost to AZ Alkmaar proves that they’re just not at the level they need to be at, despite the quality among their ranks.

If Spurs don’t beat the Eredivisie outfit next week, they’ll have nothing left to play for and the turmoil they’ve been through will have been for nothing.

Tottenham have a long way to go until they’re back to their best but one way they can get there quicker is if Son can find his shooting boots once again.

The 2024/25 season has by no means been the best of Son’s career and, as he’s been handed an extension to his stay at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, he needs to repay the faith Daniel Levy has shown in him.

Otherwise, his time with the North London outfit could end up leaving a sour taste in fans’ mouths, despite the legacy he’s created.

Which would be a sad way for things to end after all they’ve been through together.
