O’Hara reacts to name mentioned as Postecoglou replacement at Tottenham
Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou is still under pressure despite progressing to the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
The competition remains Spurs’ only hope of success after a dismal Premier League campaign in which they find themselves 13th with ten matches left to play.
As a result, speculation continues to link the Australian with an exit from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium despite the 3-1 victory against AZ Alkmaar.

O’Hara reacts as Andoni Iraola mooted at Tottenham
A Spurs supporter named Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola as the man that he would like to replace Postecoglou live on talkSPORT [13 March, 22:19] after the second leg.
The Cherries boss has his side sitting ninth with a real chance of Champions League qualification but also has interest from Real Madrid.
Asked whether the Spaniard would join Spurs, O’Hara said: “They’re flying but no disrespect to Bournemouth, they’re still Bournemouth.”
Iraola would be perfect Postecoglou replacement
If Tottenham decide to sack Postecoglou after an underwhelming second season then Iraola would be the ideal replacement.
The Australian has had to deal with a brutal injury crisis but it could be argued that his training methods and selection decisions have not helped the situation and have only served to aggravate it.
Stats (Premier League) | Iraola | Postecoglou |
Wins | 12 | 10 |
Draws | 8 | 4 |
Losses | 8 | 14 |
Points | 44 | 34 |
Regardless, the squad at his disposal is good enough to compete and the position that the Lilywhites find themselves in domestically is not good enough for a club of Spurs’ stature.
Appointing Iraola would not be a silver-bullet solution; it would not solve all of the problems in North London, many of which involve Daniel Levy and the board, but it would be exciting.
The 42-year-old is one of the most highly-rated coaches in the game and his exploits on the South Coast this season have been nothing short of spectacular, with the Cherries in the running for European football next campaign. But whether he could do the same in N17 remains to be seen.
If results continue the way that they have been domestically, a change will have to made in the near future.
But the former Celtic man may be able to turn it around in the final reckonings of the current campaign.
