Mauricio Pochettino odds slashed for fairytale Tottenham return after Thomas Frank sack news

Mauricio Pochettino could seal a fairytale return to Tottenham very soon.

Pochettino is currently in charge of the US Men’s National Team, and an exit may look highly unlikely ahead of a home 2026 World Cup.

But weirder things have certainly happened in football.

Thomas Frank is now on the verge of the sack, with Spurs falling to another shocking 2-1 defeat against West Ham on Saturday afternoon.

Mauricio Pochettino ready for fairytale Tottenham return

Pochettino is said to want a return to Tottenham already.

The only caveat to that, at this point, is that it would be after the World Cup for next season.

However, Frank hadn’t been sacked at that stage, so that is looking more and more likely.

Despite the World Cup coming up, major bookmakers have slashed Pochettino’s odds as the second favourite, moving to 11/4 from 4/1 already.

Tottenham are set for crunch talks with Frank on Sunday, with Oliver Glasner remaining the current favourite overnight at 2/1.

Who are the other options to replace Thomas Frank?

Xabi Alonso was sacked by Real Madrid this week, with Spurs fans getting carried away instantly as that news emerged from Spain.

Unfortunately for them, the Spaniard looks set to wait for other opportunities in the market.

The Tottenham job looks like a poisoned chalice at this stage, with another season looking likely to pass with the Lilywhites closer to the relegation zone than Europe.

With Borussia Dortmund coming up next in the Champions League on Tuesday, it’s a quick turnaround the change managers.

However, an interim team can take charge of that one, with no clear path forward under Frank.

As a realist, any moves for Glasner, Alonso or Pochettino remain unlikely, so it begs the question, who on earth will be next in line?

Frank was always seen as a project appointment ahead of the shock exit of Daniel Levy in the summer, but once again, it has gone very badly.

Time will tell what happens next, but it’s looking like a scarce market for managers should Frank leave on Sunday.
