‘Matter of time’ before Thomas Frank is sacked by Tottenham after latest updates
Thomas Frank has moved even closer to the sack at Tottenham after his side were knocked out of the FA Cup by Aston Villa.
Aston Villa beat Tottenham 2-1 on Saturday evening, making it four games without a win for the North London outfit.
Emi Buendia and Morgan Rogers gave Unai Emery’s side a two-goal lead at the break, and despite Wilson Odobert halving the deficit early in the second half, Spurs were unable to claw their way back.
Frank is now in real danger of being dismissed following the defeat to Villa, which all but ends any chance of the Lilywhites winning a trophy this season.
Thomas Frank faces fresh Tottenham sack claim
Frank’s time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has been nothing short of abysmal, with the North London side sitting 14th in the Premier League.
Spurs are now also out of both the FA Cup and League Cup, meaning the Champions League is their final chance of silverware this term.
On current form, Tottenham’s European campaign is almost certain to end in failure, which would cap off a horrific first campaign under Frank.
The Dane has completely lost the support of the fanbase, and calls for him to lose his job are only growing louder.
Speaking after Spurs’ defeat to Aston Villa, The Sun’s Martin Lipton revealed that although Frank is unlikely to be sacked this week, it is a matter of time until he departs.
Lipton said: “Thomas Frank’s lifeline at Tottenham is getting shorter and shorter. You can’t see it lasting too much longer.
“This is a club that feels dysfunctional, feels lost. It doesn’t look as though the Dane will be sacked this week, but in truth, it looks and feels like nothing more than a matter of time.”
Who could replace Thomas Frank at Tottenham?
If Tottenham decide that Frank’s time is up, getting his replacement absolutely right becomes a priority.
Oliver Glasner is the current favourite to take over in North London, with one bookmaker valuing the Crystal Palace boss at 4/1.
Marco Silva, Jurgen Klopp and Enzo Maresca are also among the frontrunners to replace Frank.
| Manager | Odds |
| Oliver Glasner | 4/1 |
| Marco Silva | 6/1 |
| Jurgen Klopp | 6/1 |
| Enzo Maresca | 8/1 |
However, with problems evident right through the club, it seems unlikely that a change in manager will make enough difference to turn the situation around at Tottenham.
