Mathys Tel in exchange with furious Tottenham fans as new footage emerges

Mathys Tel was involved in an exchange with some furious Tottenham supporters after the defeat against Fulham on Sunday.

The 19-year-old was one of seven Spurs changes made by Ange Postecoglou for the Premier League clash at Craven Cottage on 16 March.

Many Spurs fans suggested that Postecoglou had given up on the Premier League after news of the wholesale changes emerged on Sunday.

One change in particular made Postecoglou look incredibly stupid. However, in fairness, the majority of Spurs’ players let themselves down against Marco Silva’s side.

Tel was perhaps the only Tottenham player who could hold his head high after the disappointing defeat in West London, which leaves Spurs 13th in the Premier League and 10 points off the top half of the table.

Therefore, it is clear to see why fans would be so angry, and new footage shows Tel trying to calm those enraged supporters down after full time at Craven Cottage.

Tel sends message to Tottenham fans after defeat v Fulham

It was a day to forget at Craven Cottage for Tottenham, with Postecoglou furious with Dominic Solanke after one of many underwhelming Tottenham moments.

However, at full time, the fans were just as furious as their manager after what they had just watched.

And in footage posted to X by SpursArmyTweets (16 March), Tel could be seen talking with the traveling support and urging them to stick by the team.

However, if Spurs continue to serve up performances such as the one against Fulham, patience is only going to get thinner among the Tottenham faithful.

Tel shows character after defeat against Fulham

While it won’t change the result, it says a lot that Tel went over to speak to the fans after the defeat against Fulham.

The forward, who is on loan from Bayern Munich, is only a teenager and has been with Tottenham for just a matter of months. Therefore, the fact that he went to hear what the fans had to say should be applauded.

It shows the Frenchman is full of character, and with time, could become an important player for Spurs.
