Manchester United player ratings v Tottenham: Garnacho awful, another star flops
Tottenham secured the three points at home as they beat Manchester United 1-0 on Sunday, 16 February.
James Maddison scored the game’s only goal to take some of the pressure off Ange Postecoglou’s back.
United, with an extremely young bench, made only one change all evening but lacked the cutting edge in the final third.
Here are our Manchester United ratings from the game:
Andre Onana – 7
He was arguably the best player for United as he made several saves and kept his side in the game right until the end.
Noussair Mazraoui – 4
While he was decent in possession, he was suspect defensively and it was one of his poorer performances for the club.
Harry Maguire – 6
A commanding presence at the back as he made things tricky for the Tottenham attackers, especially Mathys Tel.
Matthijs de Ligt – 6
Much like Maguire, was extremely tough to get past and was also tidy in possession and kept Dejan Kulusevski quiet.
Diogo Dalot – 3
Looked out of place as he kept whipping aimless crosses into the penalty area with no accuracy, per Sofascore.
Bruno Fernandes – 7
Tried to make things happen from a deep midfield position but the United attackers failed to do more of it in the final third.
Casemiro – 5
Made a few baffling decisions in the middle of the park as the Spurs midfielders seemed to run rings around him.
Patrick Dorgu – 5
Was solid defensively but going forward he proved to be ineffective as he failed to link up with the players next to him.
Joshua Zirkzee – 4
Found himself in some good goal-scoring positions but he failed to capitalise on any of his chances.
Alejandro Garnacho – 2
Missed a glorious chance in the first half and failed to do anything in front of goal in what was an awful display from the Argentine, who has been linked with a move to Spurs.
Rasmus Hojlund – 1
Got bullied in the air as well as on the ground as he struggled to get involved. A truly shocking performance from him.
