Man United in ‘never-before-seen fallout’ as Amorim faces sack after Tottenham loss
Manchester United are in a state of emergency after their Europa League defeat to Tottenham.
Ruben Amorim faces being sacked after United failed to make amends for their dreadful Premier League campaign with a victory in Bilbao over Spurs.
Brennan Johnson’s first-half goal was enough to be the difference in what was a turgid 90 minutes of football, in which Man United were twice denied late on by Micky van de Ven and Guglielmo Vicario making heroic goal-line stops.
Amorim’s side can now finish 17th in the Premier League without any European football next season and it remains to be seen how co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe will react at Old Trafford.

Man United and Tottenham face meltdown after Europa League final
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou could be sacked even though his side won the Europa League final against Manchester United.
However, Amorim’s own future is far from safe.
Former Sky Sports anchor Richard Keys believes there’ll be an explosion of activity at both the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Old Trafford after their Europa League final showdown.
He took to X after the game on Wednesday (21 May) to say: “Well done Spurs. Now what?
“And what does the Jim Reaper do?
“The fallout from this final is going to be something the likes of which we’ve never seen.”
Tottenham turmoil won’t disappear despite trophy win
Spurs fans won’t care about it right now.
Daniel Levy might not either.
But the Spurs board have a huge decision to make on whether or not Postecoglou is the man to go forward with in the dug-out.
Ultimately, he promised silverware this season and he’s delivered it.
He’ll go down in Tottenham’s history.

Mauricio Pochettino kept on qualifying for the Champions League via the Premier League but will his legacy stand the test of time?
Or will it be Postecoglou who football fans will be talking about decades from now and his Europa League win?
If you ask the fans of almost every Premier League team, they’ll say they’d rather win a trophy and finish 17th than win nothing and finish second.
Postecoglou’s card feels as though it’s been marked for a while but the Aussie is a man who has stood by his principles.
He loves to play full-throttle football and he tries his best to do exactly that with a smile on his face.
The former Celtic manager has been ground down at times this season but he’s prevailed and he’s a European title winner at Tottenham Hotspur.
