Lucas Bergvall had an outstanding 18 months at Tottenham.

The Swede was signed from Djurgardens in February 2024 and has been quick to make an impact at Spurs.

Since moving to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the 19-year-old has already made 45 appearances, which have resulted in five goal contributions.

Despite Spurs’ failing last season, Bergvall impressed and played a major part in their Europa League victory.

However, Bergvall was injured near the end of the 2024/25 campaign, which ruled him out until the end of the season.

Lucas Bergvall set to return from injury for Tottenham’s Asian tour

Tottenham have now started their pre-season as Thomas Frank looks to quickly implement his ideas to his squad.

Spurs’ first match is against Reading on 19 July, before another League One tie against Luton Town the following Saturday.

After this, Tottenham are set to fly out to Asia to tour Hong Kong and South Korea.

Here, they will play Arsenal and Newcastle United, in one of the London club’s final tests before the Super Cup final.

Therefore, Frank will be keen to have as many players available as possible, and now the Dane has received a big boost.

According to Fotbolldirekt (18 July), Bergvall is once again fit, recovering from his stretched ligament in his foot.

Therefore, the Swede is able to train fully and will play matches during the upcoming Asian tour.

Pressure will be on Frank this pre-season

While pre-season matters little in the grand scheme of things, Frank will be expected to get this Tottenham squad to perform.

The sacking of Ange Postecoglou was no doubt a controversial one, and the Dane needs to prove that this was the right decision.

Heavy defeats to the likes of Arsenal, Newcastle and Bayern Munich could turn the fanbase against him early doors, especially if this is followed up with another defeat to PSG.

However, Frank is no doubt a fantastic manager, and should be able to show the progress Tottenham have made this pre-season.
