Lucas Bergvall contract: Tottenham ready dream offer as new deal on cards

Lucas Bergvall has been a bright spark in a rather dull Tottenham season after completing a transfer last summer.

The 19-year-old was signed by the North London outfit from Djurgardens despite interest from other top European teams.

Ange Postecoglou has started to rely on Bergvall more in recent months, with the youngster featuring in the last 12 Premier League matches for the Lilywhites.

Spurs value the Sweden international at £54million but it doesn’t look like they have any intention of parting ways with the midfielder anytime soon.

Tottenham to offer Bergvall new contract soon

Bergvall will negotiate a new contract at the North London outfit at the end of the season, according to FotbollDirekt.

The news outlet reports (7 April) that the Lilywhites could offer the 19-year-old improved terms after a successful campaign despite his current deal running until the summer of 2029.

It’s been claimed that a new dream contract is in the works for the Swedish national, with talks set to take place in the coming months.

Daniel Levy is already making sure Spurs remain in a strong negotiating position in the coming years if top clubs show interest in the young midfielder.

Postecoglou needs to rely on Bergvall until the end of the season

The Europa League may be pivotal for Postecoglou, and failure to win the competition could potentially lead to his sacking.

Eintracht Frankfurt will travel to North London on Thursday (10 April) before the second leg in Germany on 17 April.

Spurs have been underwhelming for most of the season and sit 14th in the Premier League table with seven games to go.

Tottenham beat Southampton 3-1 at home on Sunday (6 April), and the players will have some confidence going into the Europa League tie.

The North Londoners have been shaky defensively for most of the campaign, but some of that has been down to the injury issues at the back.

With Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven returning to action recently, Postecoglou has no excuses for Spurs’ lack of solidity.

The likes of Yves Bissouma and James Maddison have disappointed this season, leaving the Australian manager with an easy decision regarding Bergvall.
