Lucas Bergvall blow as Tottenham ace ruled out of action, details shared

Lucas Bergvall has been one of the better performers for Tottenham in their dreadful season but he could face some time out on the sidelines.

The Sweden international has been a key cog for Tottenham under Ange Postecoglou, making 22 Premier League appearances and playing all of the Europa League matches so far.

Bergvall’s solid displays in the Tottenham shirt did not go unnoticed as he earned the national team call-up for the March international break.

Sweden are set to take on Luxembourg and Northern Ireland but the 19-year-old could sit on the sidelines for the international games.

The 19-year-old missed Wednesday’s training because of cold symptoms and is unavailable to play on Saturday.

According to team doctor Jonas Werner, if Bergvall manages to recover in time, the former Djurgarden man may be able to join the national team for their second friendly against Northern Ireland, but that remains to be seen.

Sweden will face Northern Ireland on Tuesday at Strawberry Arena in Solna, giving Bergvall a few days to recover from cold symptoms and return to Tomasson’s squad.

Bergvall excelling for Tottenham

Bergvall was signed by Spurs for just £8.5million last summer, arriving as one of the hottest young midfield prospects, capable of being a clutch player in the future.

Swedish midfielder Bergvall has instantly impressed in Tottenham colours, often seen running the show in the middle of the park. He has gelled well in Postecoglou’s system, showcasing a blend of creativity and technical superiority.

Bergvall is known to drop deep, collect the ball, release the pressure on Tottenham and then drive forward with the ball to start the attack. He uses his creativity to get out of player jams in tight situations and allow Spurs to open up the play.

While he is still a work in progress, Bergvall has shown signs that he can become a great midfielder in the Premier League. Fingers crossed he gets over this illness before club football resumes.
