Liverpool in chaos after loss v Tottenham, training cancelled

Liverpool have been forced to cancel their training session on Thursday after their 1-0 loss against Tottenham in the EFL Cup, according to Lyall Thomas.

The Sky Sports journalist reported via his personal X account on 9 January that the Reds arrived late from North London, leaving them with no option but to cancel their training.

Their flight back home after the defeat against Spurs on Wednesday (8 January) was diverted to Birmingham due to “rapidly deteriorating weather” caused by “freezing fog”.

Arne Slot cancels Liverpool training after loss v Tottenham

Tottenham hosted Liverpool in the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final tie on Wednesday.

The entertaining encounter remained goalless until Lucas Bergvall broke the deadlock in the 86th minute and gave the hosts the win.

Arne Slot and his staff were furious as they believed Bergvall should have received a second yellow card for a foul on Kostas Tsimikas seconds earlier.

Nevertheless, Ange Postecoglou became the second manager to beat Slot after his arrival at Anfield in the summer.

The North London giants now have a foot in the final and will be hopeful of maintaining the lead when they visit Merseyside on 6 February.

Goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky impressed on his debut, making seven saves and keeping a clean sheet.

Perhaps the only negative for Tottenham was seeing Rodrigo Bentancur forced off the pitch early on in the game.

However, the midfielder has since confirmed that he is in a stable condition.
