Liverpool fans accuse Postecoglou of ‘mind games’ after ‘Huge’ Tottenham news

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has been accused of playing mind games after the latest update on Micky van de Ven.

The Australian confirmed that the Dutchman is set to miss the EFL Cup semi-final second leg with Liverpool on 6 February.

Spurs hold a slender 1-0 advantage from the first leg at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but head to Merseyside with both of their starting centre-backs ruled out.

However, Reds supporters have rubbished the former Celtic man’s remarks and think that he is trying to give his side an advantage for the Anfield clash.

Postecoglou needs a win against Liverpool

A victory against Arne Slot’s side would be huge for Spurs so it makes sense to seek any edge that they can get.

One Reds supporter asked whether it was “mind games” claiming that the Spurs boss did not “completely rule him out.”

Another agreed with that sentiment and believes that the Australian is “trying to play mind games and he’ll play.”

It is unlikely that Postecoglou would lie about the extent of Van de Ven’s injury just to surprise the Reds on Thursday, especially given the crisis he has faced – he has likely had enough.

The contest is absolutely huge for the former Celtic man, with the pressure around his seat in the dugout evaporating if he can guide his side to a final.

The chance to win the Lilywhites’ first trophy since the same competition awaits if they can hold on to their advantage at Anfield.

It promises to be a momentous night for Postecoglou either way.
