Levy ‘holds Postecoglou talks’ as new Tottenham ultimatum made
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has taken matters in his own hands amid uncertainty surrounding the future of Ange Postecoglou.
Tottenham lost 2-0 to Fulham on Sunday (16 March) as Ange Postecoglou’s side lost their 15th Premier League game of the season.
Spurs sit 14th in the league table with 34 points, level on points with Everton and West Ham United but with better goal difference.
Spurs have struggled to secure wins and pressure is mounting on Postecoglou as his job at N17 is under heavy scrutiny.
In his second season at Tottenham, Postecoglou has lost 19 games in all competitions, 15 of which have come in the Premier League.
The inconsistency has left Spurs in a difficult position as European football is far away from them at this point.

Daniel Levy’s requirement
As Spurs continue to falter, there have been rallying cries for Postecoglou to be sacked, with a number of managers being linked with the job.
Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola is a strong candidate to replace Postecoglou should the Australian be sacked. Former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has also opened the doors to a possible return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Former Southampton boss Russel Martin is also on the list as he is on the look out for a new job since being sacked by the Saints in December 2024.
Postecoglou’s record | Matches | Wins | Draws | Losses |
2024-25 | 46 | 21 | 6 | 19 |
Following the loss to Fulham, Levy has set out a minimum requirement for Postecoglou. According to TBR Football, the Spurs chairman wants Tottenham to achieve European football for next season at the least.
Levy is said to have met with the 57-year-old and has laid out the expectations before the business end of the season.
Levy is aware that sacking the Australian at this point of the season will not drastically improve the results, nor leave Spurs with enough time to bring in their desired manager.
In such circumstances, it is best to keep Postecoglou at the helm and expect him to salvage the season.

Tottenham need to win the Europa League
With the season goal set at qualifying for European football, Postecoglou’s only chance is to win the Europa League.
Postecoglou has miserably failed to guide Tottenham into European football places in the league, and if their below-par performances continue, it won’t be possible to qualify for Europe via the league.
The only chance that Postecoglou and Spurs have is to win the Europa League. They haven’t been flawless in that competition either.
Spurs just managed to scramble through to the quarter-finals after beating AZ Alkmaar 3-2 on aggregate.
The Lilywhites take on Eintracht Frankfurt in the quarter-finals, which poses a tough challenge for Spurs. If Tottenham are to win the competition, they will need to beat and eliminate strong teams like Frankfurt.
If they manage to win the Europa League, Postecoglou will not only guide them to European football next season, but also end their long-running trophy drought.
