Kieran McKenna twist emerges as Tottenham make Ange Postecoglou sack decision

Tottenham will find it very difficult to hire Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna in the middle of the season, according to TEAMtalk.

The news outlet reported on 20 January that the former Manchester United coach will likely come into the discussion if Spurs are to sack Ange Postecoglou.

The 38-year-old is firmly focused on getting the Tractor Boys out of the relegation battle and is unlikely to accept the job until the end of the season.

Kieran McKenna would be a good shout for Tottenham

The Northern Irishman achieved back-to-back promotions with Ipswich and even in the Premier League, they are anything but pushovers.

Given their resources, to achieve what he’s doing there is commendable and his stock is expected to be at a high even if they get relegated.

Spurs have usually succeeded whenever they have gone for up-and-coming managers rather than big names who have been at historically more successful clubs.

While it’s not a name that would get fans excited, if he’s capable of working well in the club’s structuring and maximising the youth talent that’s there, it makes a lot of sense.

He was linked with Chelsea and Manchester United in the summer as well so it’s not like Spurs are the only ones who see something special in him.

Winning the title is not the primary goal and ensuring top four regularly is, so they do not need to go out there to sign someone who’s judged by how many trophies he’s won.

In other Tottenham news, an update has emerged on Ryan Mason replacing Ange Postecoglou until the end of the season.
