Jonathan David transfer update emerges via Sky Sports amid Tottenham interest

Tottenham target Jonathan David’s representatives have been contacted by four unnamed Premier League clubs over a pre-contract agreement, according to Dharmesh Sheth.

The Sky Sports reporter reported via his personal X account on Monday (6 January) that the out-of-contract Lille star is set to assess his options, with two Italian clubs also interested in his services.

Ange Postecoglou’s side were linked with a summer free transfer for the 24-year-old by TBR Football last month (10 December).

The forward has 11 goals in 16 appearances in Ligue 1 so far this season and would be an exciting addition for Spurs supporters.

Jonathan David would be a great signing for Tottenham

The Canadian would be a clever move for the Lilywhites especially on a free transfer but it should not be a priority right now.

However, they would have to wait until the summer for his arrival so it would not improve their poor run of form.

Postecoglou’s side have won just two of their last 13 matches in all competitions, leading to severe pressure on the Australian’s future in the dugout at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs sit in 12th place in the Premier League, nine points off of a potential European qualification spot and need to arrest that shocking run if they are to have any chance of playing continental football next season.

They need to add an attacker to the squad in the January transfer window rather than waiting for the summer to make their move as they have done with Guglielmo Vicario’s replacement.

The signing makes sense, though in the long-term, and is exactly the type of value-for-money addition that Daniel Levy prefers.

In other Tottenham news, Postecoglou has been accused of going too far with his comments after the loss to Newcastle on Saturday.
