Joe Cole certain about Jose Mourinho return amid shock Tottenham news

Joe Cole has given his say on what will be next for Jose Mourinho amid shock talk of a possible return to Tottenham.

Spurs are believed to be in the market for a new manager ahead of next season, with Ange Postecoglou’s future looking bleak at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Australian coach has struggled to provide the positive transformation fans wanted to see during his two-year spell at the Lilywhites.

Spurs have had a dismal season that has left people with very little to cheer about as they sit 16th in the Premier League table after failing in both domestic competitions as well.

The Lilywhites do remain in the Europa League, but it is believed that Daniel Levy is not going to keep Postecoglou even if they win that.

Jose Mourinho is set for a managerial change

Tottenham will need to bring in a new manager if they do part ways with Postecoglou, and there has been no shortage of names linked to the role.

One surprising name that could find himself in contention is former Spurs boss Mourinho, who might end up returning for a second spell.

Mourinho has tons of experience in the Premier League, and one of his former players, Cole, explained to TNT Sports that he full expects to see him return to England.

He said (26 April): “I still think that man Jose Mourinho has a lot to give European football, and I would love to see him back in the Premier League because he’s box office.

“I think we will 100 per cent see him because he loves England and London. The story is there. Whatever club he comes in will get a real bounce initially.”

Spurs aren’t the only club that might consider bringing Mourinho in, though, as the Portuguese coach has also been linked with moves to Rangers and Leeds United in the post-season.

Tottenham would be taking a serious risk

Levy going back to Mourinho would likely surprise most people due to how their relationship ended during his previous spell in charge.

While Mourinho is seen as a serial winner, and someone who provides box office entertainment, he hasn’t been as impactful in the last decade as he previously has.

Mourinho is still an experienced coach with a lot to offer, but he’s not the only ex-Spurs boss being linked with a return.

Mauricio Pochettino is someone who Tottenham are considering bringing back to London, and that would likely be a more popular option among supporters, as his style of play is more progressive and attacking.
