James Maddison pens emotional message as Tottenham confirm season-ending injury
James Maddison has sent an emotional message to Tottenham defender Radu Drăgușin.
As reported by Jack Pitt-Brooke via X on Monday (3 February), Drăgușin will miss the remainder of the season after suffering an ACL injury.
Tottenham confirmed this news via the club’s official website on Tuesday (4 February), writing, “We can confirm that [Radu] Drăgușin will undergo surgery for an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury to his right knee.” Drăgușin becomes the latest defender to be ruled out, with Cristian Romero still nowhere to be seen.
The update was also posted to Spurs’ official Instagram account (4 February), and midfielder Maddison reposted the news via his own Instagram story (4 February), alongside the caption, “Be with you every step of the way brother”.

Maddison is also currently sidelined, with the treatment room at Hotspur Way only getting busier and busier. As a result, Postecoglou will be wondering just what he has done to deserve this kind of luck.
While Kevin Danso has been brought into the club, Spurs are still incredibly short at the back, which will be of particular concern with the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final against Liverpool at Anfield to come on Thursday (6 February).
However, in what is a small positive considering the current situation, Maddison sending a message to his Spurs teammate demonstrates that the majority of the squad are united, despite their recent struggles.
While questions could be asked behind the scenes about why there are so many injury issues in North London, it is hard to blame anyone for an ACL injury, which is just a case of extremely bad luck for Drăgușin and Tottenham.
